Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge #418

s

Welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge !! Thank you for joining us for the Shower/Flower Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too :-)

This week the challenge is...

Anything goes

We are using Newton's Nook products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some, we love to see them used :-)

For my project, I am using Love and Chocolate Clear Stamp
I love the fine lines of this stamp and it is super easy to color. I had a lot of fun creating this sweet scene with some masking. Since the chocolates are small, it takes little time to do the masking and stamping.

I took out my favorite Gansai Tambi and add my own watercolors.

Chocolate

The sentiment is so right and fun! I'll take chocolates and friends at any time of the day!

As always, Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store!
s
So now it's YOUR turn ! Happy Crafting !!

How to DECONSTRUCT A Die

Hello friends!
I hope that you find the post title intriguing enough to check out today's post.
Let's get to the the definitions first as it will help you understand what it means to "deconstruct" the use of a metal die.

Definition of deconstruct (from Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
1 :  to examine (as a work of literature) using the methods of deconstruction
2 :  to take apart or examine in order to reveal the basis or composition of often with the intention of exposing biases, flaws, or inconsistencies
3 :  to adapt or separate the elements of for use in an ironic or radically new way uses his masterly tailoring skills to deconstruct the classics — Vogue

The following card was created with the metal die in multiple creative ways.
live every moment

As I was grieving of the loss of my mother-in-law,  I went back to my craft room as it is the most normal and familiar thing to me. I realized that I only use this Penny Black die just once... and that's not acceptable.
s

In the darkest hour, I came up with this idea and I am sharing with you now.
You see the Penny Black die is such a lovely one. However, with the frame in the design, it seems rather restricted as to what you can do with it. In a way, I am just trying to "justify" the cost of getting a metal die like this.

Highlights of this card:
1. use the Birds Abode  die as a stencil (a piece of thin paper was used as mask)
2. trim off the frame from the die cut paper (so it's border-less)
3. use Distress Oxide for the ink-blending ( Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint and Broken China)
4. die cut the bird house with a different card stock (Cherry Wood paper was used)
5. with the metal die in place, a very small amount of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse (pink)was applied to the tiny heart
6. spritz water (or use Wink of Stella Clear) onto the inked background
7. apply/adhere Nuvo Crystal Droplets ( white and teal were used)

live every moment-001

I hope today's post prompted you to examine your stash of dies with fresh eyes!

This card is going to a friend of my mother-in-law's.
I know her friend will feel comforted and loved with this card because that's what my mother-in-law would say to her...

 Hello friends!
First of all, I hope you are having a great day so far.
Did you know that Simon Says Stamp is hosting an amazing event on site this coming weekend?
s
You can find out all the details here.
I think this CREATE event is on every crafter's bucket list, including mine.

Now, let's get back to today's agenda.

s

 Perennial Beauty (Simon Says Stamp)
Shop Altenew Stamp and Die Bundle here.

I decided to change it up a bit with my use of die cut and stamping.
Hello beautiful
These are a few things that I did a bit differently:

1. stamp leaves on kraft card stock
2. stamp hibiscus on DIY spray-inked paper
3. partially pop up the image by adding foam tape
4. inlaid die cutting
5. use colored card stock (pink) with the stamped image

Hello beautiful#2

For some random reason, I added the glitter Washi tape to highlight the sentiment. I actually like that!

Hello beautiful #1
